The selection process for Track A includes two main steps:
- Application review
- On-site assessment at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, University of Manitoba
Only fully completed applications with all required documentation, received by the Track A application deadline in the year before admission, will be considered.
1. Application review
You will be selected for the on-site assessment based on:
- Your academic credentials
- Your work experience
- Your English language test results
- Your ADAT scores
Only the top-ranked applicants will be invited for the on-site assessment.
If selected, you will be notified by mid-May of the year before entry into the program. To accept the on-site assessment offer, you must:
- Indicate your acceptance in writing
- Submit a non-refundable fee of $1,600.00 CDN by the deadline given in the offer letter
2. On-site assessment
The on-site assessment takes place in mid-June of the year before the program starts. It includes:
- A personal interview
- A psychomotor skills assessment on typodonts in simulated dental mannequins
You will also meet some current students in the undergraduate program. An online interview will be scheduled, and details will be provided to those attending the on-site assessment.
Components of the on-site assessment
a. Personal interview
The online personal interview is conducted by a panel of university members. It aims to:
- Learn more about your educational and work experience
- Assess your ability to communicate in English
- Discuss relevant aspects of your life and practice experience
The interview lasts up to 20 minutes.
b. Psychomotor skills assessment
This assessment involves tooth preparations and/or placing restorations in typodont teeth on simulated dental mannequins. Practice sessions will be provided before the assessment day. Details will be shared only with those selected for the on-site assessment.
NOTE: Selection decisions are subjective, and the rationale is neither recorded nor provided to applicants.
