Bachelor of Arts in Geography
The Bachelor of Arts in Geography (General) is available by Distance and Online Education. This degree will provide students with a basic level of understanding of the discipline and can be used to meet the admission requirements for the After-Degree Bachelor of Education degree program.
Geography examines environments created on the Earth’s surface by nature and by humans. As such, it searches to explain how and why they differ from place to place. There are four broad categories of courses in the discipline:
- physical geography includes the study of the environment through aspects of atmospheric science, geomorphology, biogeography, and hydrology;
- human geography examines how people have been influenced by the environment and how, in turn, they have left their mark on the environment;
- regional geography attempts to achieve a synthesis of these; and
- techniques in geography focus on analytic methods.
