FGS - Travel Award

STEP 1 Review
Review eligibility for this award
IMPORTANT: This is not a comprehensive list of the eligibility criteria for the FGS Travel Award. You, as a student are responsible for reviewing the FGS Travel Award Website before application.
- Applicants must be students in good standing, registered and enrolled full-time in a Master's or Ph.D. program at the time of the event
- GPA of 3.50 in the last 60 credit hours of study (or equivalent)
- Students may not receive funding more than once at the Mater's level or more than twice at the Ph.D. level
- Papers/posters must be relevant to the applicant's program of study for presentation at a conference or festival or competition in the case of creative output endeavours, that are sponsored by a recognized national or international organization
- Applicants must be presenting at the specified conference
- When to Submit: Students are required to submit their applications either prior to departing to attend the conference or up to one month after the last day of the conference.
STEP 2 Prepare
Prepare documents before application
- Completed Letter of Support from Department Head (PDF)
- NOTE: To obtain Department Head signature, please email form to Leah.Phillips@umanitoba.ca indicating the conference name, dates and what you will be presenting.
- Confirmation that your paper/poster has been accepted by the conference organizers (save as .pdf file)
- A one page abstract of paper/poster being presented (save as .pdf file)
- Required for virtual conference only: a copy of the receipt for the payment of your virtual conference fee
STEP 3 Apply
Submit application
The FGS Travel Award application must be submitted through an online application that can be found through the link below. Be sure to read through all eligibility criteria before applying for FGS Travel Award.
STEP 4 Follow-Up
Submit any remaining documentation following the conference
If you apply for the FGS - Travel Award prior to attending the conference, you may require to submit more documentation upon return from the conference. See FGS Travel Award application for more details.
