Junior Bisons Basketball Club Teams

Overview

 ​​The Junior Bisons Basketball Club offers opportunities to athletes aged 10-18 at all skill levels to enhance their technical skills, tactical knowledge and fitness. JBBC ensures a high-level training experience suitable for both new athletes and those aspiring to advance to post-high school competition.

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

Player fees cover Basketball Manitoba registration, facility rentals, Peg City league fees, tournament entry fees, Junior Bisons banquet ticket, coaching honorariums, strength and conditioning, equipment/supplies and administration costs.

  • This larger fee is payable in one lump sum at the annual parent meeting or can be paid by credit card in a 4 month payment plan (Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec)

Apparel fees cover reversible practice jersey, warm-up t-shirt, team hoodie.

  • The full apparel fee is due at the parent meeting in August with credit card as the clothing is ordered and paid for instantly through the online store.

*2023-2024 is a new game uniform year as our logo and official colors are changing to align with the University of Manitoba Bisons official branding. This is a fee that occurs only once every 3 years (reversible jersey and shorts).

Reminder: These are estimated costs. Roster size, league prices & tournament entry will impact final costs and will be finalized in August.

Family Meeting

Families play a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of young athletes' development. In order to ensure families have all of the information necessary to ensure a successful season for their athlete our leadership team hosts a meeting after tryouts, before the season begins. Here you will meet the coaching staff, complete the team registration process, receive team schedules and complete online apparel orders.

This meeting is a requirement of playing Junior Bisons Club Basketball and all athletes and one parent/guardian must be in attendance.

Junior Bisons Winter House League

Overview

The House League program is a blend of competition and instruction for boys and girls aged 11-14. Participants learn fundamental basketball skills and compete in a fun and supportive environment. The House League develops individual skills, introduces team play concepts, and enhances the overall fitness levels of the participants.

This program is for individuals interested in learning more about the game, those who have yet to decide on basketball as their primary sport and those seeking additional court time beyond other club commitments.

Level Up Elite Summer Skills Training

Overview

Work with Bisons coaches and Bisons men’s basketball players to develop and improve your skills this summer. This all genders training camp is designed for players with previous community, school or club experience to develop better ball handling, 1 on 1 scoring, shooting fundamentals and decision-making skills through both fundamental teaching breakdowns and various speed repetitions and small aided game environments. 

Ages: 2007-2014 born players

Program dates and time: 

Session 1:    Tuesdays, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (2013-2014 born players)           
Session 2:    Thursdays, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (2013-2014 born players)
Session 3:    Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (2011-2012 born players) 
Session 4:    Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (2011-2012 born players) 
Session 5*:  Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. pm  (2007-2010 born players)

Program size: 

Sessions 1-4:  Maximum of 10 athletes per session
Session 5:       Maximum of 20 athletes will be selected after the tryout

Junior Bisons High Performance Basketball - Summer Camp

Overview

Junior Bisons High Performance Basketball focuses on building excellence in competitive basketball. These summer camps are geared towards athletes looking to further their athletic skill development in an intense and challenging environment. Days will include on court training, game play as well as strength and conditioning and sport science sessions.

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

Previous basketball experience is required.

Mini Bisons Basketball I - Summer Camp

Overview

Designed by our Bisons head coaches, the Mini Bisons Basketball program allows children to play the game in a focused environment suited to the development of their physical, mental and basketball skills by instituting long-term athlete development (LTAD) modifications to the adult game. With high repetitions and touches, it is player-oriented with the emphasis is on skill development in combination with the teaching and loading of actions. The perfect place to start for any young basketball fan.

Overview

Mini Bisons Basketball II is designed to build on skills learned in Mini Bisons I (but previous basketball experience is not necessary). With program development and coaching by Bisons student-athletes, participants will engage in fun, high quality and developmentally appropriate training, programming, and coaching as part of a holistic approach to long-term athlete development.
