Amy De Jaeger
Role
Amy oversees strategic initiatives within the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) and across the institution on behalf of the Vice-Provost Learning, Analytics, and Academic Infrastructure. She is responsible for managing the UM SoTL Fund and play a key role in shaping SoTL and teaching culture and related programming across the University.
Biography
Amy has spent most of her life impassioned with the relationship between interpersonal connection and human development. Her teaching journey began as an interdisciplinary team trainer for non-profit organizations and health care teams. Since 2009, she has held various sessional appointments across the University of Manitoba (Psychology, Education, and Community Health Sciences). Amy uses Team-Based Learning (TBL) as her primary instructional strategy and is one of two certified TBL Trainer-Consultants in Canada.
Amy uses a holistic lens to frame her own scholarly work which includes institutional practices around SoTL/SoTL culture, the scholarship of educational leadership, teaching assessment and teaching culture, and strategies for using SoTL to build meaningful connections in higher education. Amy is involved in SoTL research at the national and international levels and has been an engaged member of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) since 2017. Amy holds significant leadership roles in the ISSOTL SoTL community including the current President-Elect and past Regional VP – Canada positions.
