Sound Stage
Located on the 1st floor of the School of Art ARTlab, the Sound Stage is a dynamic, multi-functional space designed for creativity, performance, exhibition, teaching, and learning in the arts and related technologies. This versatile environment supports a wide range of activities, including motion media, audio-based projects, and art performances. Spanning over 1,000 square feet, the Sound Stage also doubles as an exhibition space, offering endless possibilities for artistic exploration.

Sound Stage:
A versatile video production studio ideal for chromakey screen recording, audio and video installations, performances, and art exhibitions.
Control Room:
A post-production studio equipped with professional-grade audio and video tools, enabling users to finalize projects with the highest quality.
Isolation Booth:
An acoustic room specifically designed for audio recording, suitable for various audio projects such as music, podcasts, and foley work.
Equipment
The studio offers an extensive catalogue of professional-grade equipment, including video cameras, tripods, audio gear, projectors, and more. Whether you're filming, recording, or setting up an exhibition, our diverse range of tools is here to support your creative endeavours.
All video equipment is available through the Media Crib for use by authorized users. Priority is given to students engaged in video courses, based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Access and Booking
The Sound Stage facilities are located on the 1st Floor of the ARTlab building, 180 Dafoe Road. The area is divided into three connected spaces: the Sound Stage, the Control Room, and the Isolation Booth.
Studio Hours:
- Regular Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Additional Time Slots: Available after 4:30 PM by booking.
Access:
- SoA Faculty and Staff: 24/7 access to the Sound Stage facilities.
- Graduate and Undergraduate Students: Access is granted by booking available time slots and obtaining a key and swipe card.
Equipment Orientation and Facilities User Manual:
First-time users may require an orientation or tutorial on some equipment, as well as review of the Sound Stage Facilities User Manual.
Key & Card Management:
- Return Policy: Keys and cards must be returned on time to avoid delays for other users.
- Duplicate Access: Available at the Front Office, 3rd Floor of ARTlab.
- Lost Key/Card: Report immediately to the relevant technician or faculty supervisor. Users are responsible for the cost of replacement or re-keying of locks.
