Curated by School of Art Professor Mary Ann Steggles, this exhibition delves into the evolution of ceramics in Canada since the 1960s. While not exhaustive, the exhibition and its accompanying catalogue aim to deepen appreciation for the studio pottery movement in Canada.
Professor Steggles’ journey begins in British Columbia and concludes in Lonsdale, Ontario, exploring international influences from Japan, Korea, and the Bauhaus in Europe, as well as intergenerational knowledge transfer among potters. The exhibition highlights cultural and social shifts, showcasing 34 artists whose contributions have shaped Canada's artistic landscape. Many of these artists have been honored with accolades such as:
- Saiyde Bronfman Award for Excellence in Craft
- Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts
- Companion of the Order of Canada
- Queen’s Jubilee Medal
- Membership in the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts
