Michael Parke-Taylor is an independent art historian and curator living in Toronto. He received his art historical training at the University of Toronto and the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. Parke-Taylor is former Curator of Modern Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario where he was responsible for modernist painting, sculpture, and works on paper from 1900-1960, including the AGO's extensive holdings of Henry Moore. He worked at the AGO for twenty-three years, five of those in the Print and Drawing Department. Parke-Taylor has organized numerous thematic and monographic exhibitions embracing a wide range of nineteenth and twentieth-century European and Canadian artists. In recent years he has published a monograph on L. LeMoine FitzGerald (Art Canada Institute, 2017) and is currently guest-curating a large retrospective exhibition of Bertram Brooker to be held at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection (Jan. 27 – June 9, 2024).
