About the program

School of Art Student Ambassadors play a key role in fostering community, sharing student experiences, and supporting events and programming at both the School and its Gallery. Whether welcoming prospective students, supporting visiting artists, or helping mount an exhibition, Ambassadors contribute meaningfully to the life of the School and gain valuable experience along the way.
Benefits of being an Ambassador
Student Ambassadors may receive Experience Record recognition after completing a minimum of 10 volunteer hours during the academic year. Hours are flexible with the exception of a few fixed event dates. You will also gain valuable experience in:
Public speaking
Event planning and support
Art installation and handling
Leadership and collaboration
Community engagement
Gallery operations
Activities
You’ll help shape your own experience based on your interests and skills. Are you passionate about welcoming new students? Love working with artists or setting up exhibitions? Enjoy organizing events? There’s a place for you here.
Activities may vary year to year and may include:
Student Ambassador
Greeting guests at recruitment or School-wide events
Providing guided tours for prospective students or special guests
Leading demonstrations of art techniques or studio practices
Assisting with event setup, cleanup, and planning
Gallery Ambassador
Helping install or take down art exhibitions
Supporting opening receptions, workshops, and performances
Assisting visiting artists with their work
Offering tours of current exhibitions
Eligibility and applying
Be a part-time or full-time student at the School of Art in good academic standing
Have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework
Possess strong communication and collaboration skills
Be enthusiastic about the School of Art and willing to share your experience
Have interest in event coordination, outreach, or gallery work (training provided)

Step 1: Complete the application form. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Step 2: We’ll contact you to discuss your interests and availability.
Step 3: Attend a brief interview/meeting and begin your Ambassador journey!
