Research

Research interests

Dr. Amarakoon's research program focuses on advancing climate-resilient, sustainable agricultural systems that enhance environmental stewardship while safeguarding surface waters and human health. Research interests are focused on:

  • Phosphorus management to enable efficient upcycling of waste-derived phosphorus, such as from manures and struvite, while upholding environmental stewardship by reducing offsite transport.
  • Soil organic carbon dynamics, including carbon sequestration and stabilization under diverse land management practices.
  • Environmental fate and behaviour of contaminants, encompassing both organic and inorganic compounds.
