Dr. Timothy Penner has been teaching in the areas of Film, Literature, and Catholic studies since earning his PhD from the University of Manitoba in 2020. He has taught courses at the U of M, the University of Winnipeg, and University College of the North.
Dr. Penner’s research concerns the use of media in the construction of public personae, especially that of movie stars and authors like Robert Redford and Ernest Hemingway. As well, he has done research on the intersection between film and Catholicism, and the way the two major cultural movements have collided with, and complemented each other over the course of the twentieth century.
In addition to Literature and Catholic Culture, Dr. Penner has taught courses on Film History, Film Theory, Trauma Literature, Twentieth Century Literature, Academic writing, and Catholicism on Film.
