Research summary

Dr. Shweta Mital specializes in health economics. Her research focuses on two areas:

  1. One of her research interests is examining the economic value of healthcare interventions. This includes analyzing the cost-effectiveness of new drugs, devices, screening technologies, and pharmacist services.
  2. Her second research interest is to evaluate the impact of health policies, particularly substance use and prescription drug policies using  quasi-experimental methods.

Biography

Dr. Shweta Mital is an assistant professor of pharmacoeconomics at the College of Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from the University of Delhi in India in 2013, followed by a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom in 2014. From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Mital served as a research assistant in health economics at Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore.

Dr. Mital obtained her Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) at the School of Pharmacy at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2021, specializing in health economics. She subsequently worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Memorial University before joining the University of Manitoba in January 2023.
