Research summary

Dr. Shweta Mital specializes in health economics. Her research focuses on two areas:

  1. One of her research interests is examining the economic value of healthcare interventions. This includes analyzing the cost-effectiveness of new drugs, devices, screening technologies, and pharmacist services.
  2. Her second research interest is to evaluate the impact of health policies, particularly substance use and prescription drug policies using  quasi-experimental methods.

Biography

Dr. Shweta Mital is an assistant professor in pharmacoeconomics at the University of Manitoba College of Pharmacy.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from the University of Delhi (India) in 2013, and Master of Science in Economics from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) in 2014. Between 2014 and 2017, she worked as a research assistant in health economics at Duke NUS Medical School, Singapore. Thereafter, she went on to obtain her PhD at Memorial University of Newfoundland's School of Pharmacy in 2021 specializing in health economics,  and worked as a postdoctoral fellow there before joining the University of Manitoba in January 2023.
