Drummer welcomes group to the medicine garden.

Ongomiizwin partners are a group of community- and university-based Indigenous and ally scholars and leaders from a consortium of three Indigenous organizations and four universities in Manitoba, all committed to improving access to meaningful university-based opportunities to First Nation, Métis and Inuit trainees.

Our commitment

Ongomiizwin – Research remains committed to maintaining and developing these relationships through continued collaboration and regular meetings with the researchers and directors of the four centres to ensure continuous relationship building, assess opportunities for future collaborations, strengthen mutual support and ensure the research we support responds to the needs and intentions of the communities our partners represent.

In addition we continue to develop relationships and collaborations with other non-affiliated First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. Together we draw on the principles of solidarity, mutual support and autonomy to frame our relationships

Community partners

Ongomiizwin – Research has long-standing relationships with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC), the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) and the Manitoba Inuit Association (MIA), each of which operates their own community-based research centres.
