Dr. Christine Ateah’s research focuses on child and family health promotion, and interprofessional collaboration. Her specific expertise is parent education to promote healthy child development and prevent child maltreatment. Research studies include:

  • Evaluation of the 'Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting' (PDEP) violence prevention program
  • Abused women's mothering experiences
  • New parents' information needs, parental use of physical punishment
  • Pre-natal parent education

Biography

Dr. Christine Ateah is a professor emeritus at the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. She has presented and published her research at the local, national and international levels. Dr. Ateah has co-authored Canadian textbooks on growth and development, pediatric nursing and co-edited a book on family violence prevention.
