Brief bio
As a professor at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, Dr. William Mutch, MD, FRCPC, has dedicated over 35 years to neuroanesthesia and neuroscience research. After completing his medical education at Queen’s University, he pursued anesthesia training at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Mutch furthered his expertise through a Medical Research Council Fellowship, conducting postgraduate training in neurophysiology at the Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen, and University College London. He has also spent sabbatical periods at the University of Toronto and Cambridge University, where he learned techniques used in developing the CO2 MRI brain stress test. Dr. Mutch's contributions to medical research have been recognized with awards such as the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society Research Recognition Award in 2011, and he holds four patents related to medical devices.
