Dr. Turgeon's research is aimed at improving the lives of people who have undergone hip and knee replacements. He uses innovative research methods, such as radiostereometric analysis, to gain a deeper understanding of how implant design, stability, and biomaterials affect clinical outcomes. Dr. Turgeon is particularly interested in developing new methods to prevent implant failure and improve the longevity of the replacement. He is a surgeon scientist at the Orthopaedic Innovation Centre, where he collaborates with other experts in the field, and a member of the Canadian RSA Network and the Concordia Joint Replacement Group. His research has been recognized by several awards and honors and his findings have been published in numerous high-impact journals.
Dr. Thomas Turgeon is an associate professor at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He has dedicated his career to understanding and improving the outcomes of hip and knee replacements.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario, where he first developed an interest in the field of orthopedics.
He then went on to complete his residency at the University of Saskatchewan, and further honed his skills by earning a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from San Diego State University.
Dr. Turgeon joined the University Medical Group in the surgery department at the University of Manitoba in 2005 and has been making significant contributions to the field ever since.
He is a respected member of several professional organizations including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Turgeon currently serves on the Concordia Hospital Ethics Board and the surgery department research advisory committee, where he is known for his commitment to ethical and evidence-based research.
