Dr. Meenu Sharma's research focuses on mycobacteriology, particularly the detection, identification, and antibiotic resistance of mycobacteria. Her work includes studying tuberculosis (TB) in the Canadian north, developing rapid genotyping methods, exploring molecular markers of drug resistance, and using whole genome sequencing to analyze mycobacterium species. Dr. Sharma also investigates immune responses to mycobacterium tuberculosis and human genetic polymorphisms associated with TB.
Research scientist
Dr. Meenu Sharma is an adjunct professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She is also a research scientist at the National Reference Centre for Mycobacteriology and the National Microbiology Laboratory under the Public Health Agency of Canada. Dr. Sharma's research encompasses various aspects of mycobacteriology, with a special focus on tuberculosis. She is currently accepting Master's and PhD students, focusing on domestic students.
