Dr. Banadyga’s research program focusses primarily on filoviruses, like Ebola virus, Marburg virus, and Sudan virus.
Logan’s research seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms governing filovirus pathogenesis, and to use that information to develop novel countermeasures, including vaccines, antiviral therapeutics, and diagnostic tools.
Logan is also interested in developing and characterizing animal models of filovirus infection as a way to not only understand viral pathogenesis but also to evaluate countermeasures.
Research scientist – Special Pathogens, National Microbiology Laboratory
Dr. Banadyga is a research scientist at the National Microbiology Laboratory, Public Health Agency of Canada, as well as an adjunct professor at UM.
Logan received his BSc and PhD from the University of Alberta, after which he completed his postdoctoral studies at Rocky Mountain Laboratories, which is part of the US National Institutes of Health.
