Biography

Brief bio

Dr. Justin Rivard is an associate professor at the University of Manitoba, specializing in surgical oncology and general surgery. He also serves as the melanoma disease site chair at CancerCare Manitoba and directs the Foundations of Surgery program.

Dr. Rivard completed his Doctor of Medicine, Master of Science, and residency in general surgery at the University of Manitoba. He pursued a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Calgary and obtained Canadian and American Board Certifications in general surgery.

His clinical interests include complex colorectal cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, and soft tissue sarcoma. He is affiliated with Health Sciences Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, Breast Health Centre and Grace General Hospital.

Recognized for his teaching excellence, Dr. Rivard received the Teacher of the Year Award from general surgery residents in 2017 and has been nominated multiple times by the Manitoba Medical Students Association.
