Research summary

Dr. Pickering's research focuses on infectious diseases and zoonotic transmission. His laboratory aims to prevent, detect, and respond to high consequence pathogens such as: henipaviruses, bunyaviruses, filoviruses, coronaviruses and other (re)emerging pathogens.

Dr. Pickering's research interests includes: genomics, transcriptomics, host-pathogen interactions, pathogenesis and novel approaches to diagnostic detection.

Biography

Brad Pickering is the head of the Special Pathogens Unit at the National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease (NCFAD) at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Dr. Pickering’s work focuses on high consequence emerging and re-emerging zoonotic viruses of veterinary importance with an emphasis on pathogenesis, host-virus interactions, and viral transmission.
