Dr. Walkty is interested in antimicrobials and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.
Antimicrobial resistance, including antimicrobial susceptibility and mechanisms of resistance.
Dr. Walkty received a bachelor of science in pharmacy at the University of Manitoba in 1999. He subsequently obtained his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Manitoba in 2003. He went on to do a residency in internal medicine at the University of Manitoba, followed by three years of training in infectious diseases and medical microbiology, also at the University of Manitoba.
At present, he works as a medical microbiologist with Shared Health at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He also attends on the clinical infectious disease services at the Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Walkty is currently the program director for the Medical Microbiology residency training program at the University of Manitoba.
