Biography

Dr. Markus Ziesmann is an accomplished surgeon and researcher who is dedicated to improving health care delivery to trauma patients. After earning his medical doctorate and a bachelor of science in medicine at the University of Manitoba, he pursued advanced training in the field of trauma and acute care surgery and critical care medicine at the University of Toronto. During his residency, he demonstrated his commitment to improving patient outcomes through his master of science program that validated a quality assessment modality for Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST) ultrasound performance.

Today, Dr. Ziesmann continues to push the boundaries of knowledge in the field of trauma care as an assistant professor at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He is especially interested in exploring the opportunities for providing inpatient care to trauma patients during their acute hospital stays, and how this can benefit both individual patients and the larger public health system. With a passion for helping those who are most in need, Dr. Ziesmann's research has earned him recognition and accolades, including the Zane Cohen Clinical Fellowship Achievement Award from the University of Toronto.

Through his research, Dr. Ziesmann is working to create a future where every patient who has suffered a traumatic injury receives the best possible care and support on their road to recovery.
