This program will award trainees with a strong core of clinical experience in geriatrics. In-patient and out-patient training, alongside a rotation of geriatric psychiatry, will transform trainees into medical experts adept at studying, consulting and treating geriatric patients.
This program is made up of four diverse rotations that cover in-patient and out-patient care, 12 months of specialized training, administrative and management skills and consultant training.
Royal College accreditation
This two-year program is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, which provides discipline-specific expectations that focus on educational experiences, alongside detailed content, assessment and resource standards.
Experience the first three months in the in-patient Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital. From there, trainees participate in palliative care practice in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba finishing with a three-month rotation on the Geriatric Assessment Unit.
