Research summary

Dr. Doupe is a health services researcher with expertise in registry data systems, older adult care transitions, and implementation research.

Current projects led or co-led by Dr. Doupe include:

  • Evaluating Subacute Care Hospital Transitions for Older Adults: Understanding How, Why and for Whom a Planned Intervention is Working
  • Evaluating Older Adult Care Continuums in Alberta and Manitoba: A Comparative Analysis
  • iSTEP: An International Student Training and Exchange Project in Transitional Care
  • iNET: An International Network to Enhance Older Adult Transitions between Emergency Departments and Communities
  • From Knowledge to Action (K2A: Developing interventions to improve older adult care transitions between nursing homes and emergency wards (NH⇄EW)

Biography

Malcolm Doupe is an associate professor in community health science in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. He is also a senior research scientist with the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy. Dr. Doupe conducts research on health services utilization and the aging population specifically investigating:

  1. risk factors and patterns of Continuing Care services use
  2. healthcare transitions and factors that influence quality care
  3. issues related to care continuity for older adults

He holds several national and international grants designed to enhance care transitions for older adults. Malcolm is also the Director of the Manitoba Training Program in Health Services Research.
