Research summary
Dr. Graham has both basic science and clinical research streams.
Basic science studies of cardiorespiratory dynamics using animal models of acute lung injury and primary pulmonary hypertension to explore mechanical ventilation injury, hemodynamics and management options for these pathophysiological conditions in collaboration with the Neonatal Hemodynamics group. Future studies are planned to extend the modelling to include studies of the inflammatory consequences of one lung ventilation and lung surgery with the department of surgery.
Clinical studies with a focus on perioperative outcomes collaborating with the Pediatric Perioperative Outcomes Group to understand outcomes of greatest relevance to patients and families.
Clinical modelling of the association between intraoperative anesthetic management and postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction in collaboration with Drs. A Mutch and R El-Gabalawy.
