Binding
In most cases, additional binding of library materials is not undertaken. Where it is deemed necessary, UML staff in the unit are responsible for the binding functions: deciding what is to be bound; coordinating the budget; ordering and handling the materials for processing (pockets for enclosures, hardcovers, etc.); and binding the items as is possible in the unit.
Decisions regarding binding and binding type should take into consideration: content, format, anticipated use, use environments, cost and permanence of various binding types, and availability of an electronic version.
