Overview

Junior Bisons high performance Basketball focuses on building excellence in competitive basketball. These summer camps are geared towards athletes looking to further their athletic skill development in an intense and challenging environment. Days will include on court training, game play as well as strength and conditioning and sport science sessions.

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

Previous basketball experience is required.

Mini Bisons basketball summer camps

  • Mini Bisons I

    Designed by our Bisons head coaches, the Mini Bisons Basketball program allows children to play the game in a focused environment suited to the development of their physical, mental and basketball skills by instituting long-term athlete development (LTAD) modifications to the adult game. With high repetitions and touches, it is player-oriented with the emphasis is on skill development in combination with the teaching and loading of actions. The perfect place to start for any young basketball fan aged 5-7.

    Mini Bisons Basketball is part of Mini U.

  • Mini Bisons II

    Mini Bisons Basketball II is designed to build on skills learned in Mini Bisons I (but previous basketball experience is not necessary). With program development and coaching by Bisons student-athletes, participants will engage in fun, high quality and developmentally appropriate training, programming, and coaching as part of a holistic approach to long-term athlete development. Ideal for campers aged 8-11.

Junior Bisons basketball club teams

Overview

​​The Junior Bisons Basketball club offers opportunities to athletes aged 10-18 at all skill levels to enhance their technical skills, tactical knowledge and fitness. This program ensures a high-level training experience suitable for both new athletes and those aspiring to advance to post-high school competition.

Programming is led by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

All team seasons run September to May.

  • High School teams (2008-2010 boys and girls) will break from December to February for players to compete in the high school basketball season.

All teams will practice twice a week.

  • The high school teams will have an additional two strength and conditioning session a week.

Youth teams (2011-2014 boys and girls) participate in the Peg City Youth Basketball League.

High school teams participate in the Peg City Showcase (Sept.-Nov. 2024)

The following will provide you with estimated fees so that you can plan for the upcoming club season:

**The full apparel fee is due at the parent meeting in August. with credit card as the clothing is ordered and paid for instantly through the online store.

Reminder: These are estimated costs. 

Roster size, league prices and tournament entry will impact final costs and will be finalized in August.

By accepting a position on one of our teams and paying your above player fees you are entitled to train and practice as a Junior Bisons athlete.  Playing time however, is earned and is based on many factors including attendance, work ethic, attitude and game preparedness. Tryouts

Tryouts take place August 16 & 17, 2025.

Family meeting

Families play a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of young athletes' development. In order to ensure families have all of the information necessary to ensure a successful season for their athlete our leadership team hosts a meeting after tryouts, before the season begins. Here you will meet the coaching staff, complete the team registration process, receive team schedules and complete online apparel orders.

Junior Bisons girls spring elite basketball teams

Overview

The Junior Bisons Girls Basketball club runs two spring elite teams, ages 15U and 17U, that compete in the Prairie Elite Basketball League across western Canada. Each team in PEBL must be sponsored by an accredited university program. The league includes junior teams from universities from Calgary, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Overview

The house league program is a blend of competition and instruction for boys and girls aged 11-14. Participants learn fundamental basketball skills and compete in a fun and supportive environment. The House League develops individual skills, introduces team play concepts, and enhances the overall fitness levels of the participants.

This program is for individuals interested in learning more about the game, those who have yet to decide on basketball as their primary sport and those seeking additional court time beyond other club commitments.

Programming is developed by Bisons basketball head coaches Michele Sung and Kirby Schepp and facilitated by Bisons student-athletes.

Level Up elite summer skills training

Overview

Take your game to the next level with Bisons summer skills training. Work with Bisons coaches and Bisons men’s basketball players to develop better ball handling, 1 on 1 scoring skills, shooting fundamentals and decision-making skills. Our teaching focus incorporates fundamental teaching breakdowns as well as a variety of game speed repetitions in 1 on 1 or small aided game environments. A unique, high-energy atmosphere keeps athletes of all ages highly engaged.  This program is open to all genders.
