    Cross-campus collaboration

    This EDIA program brings the UM community including UM students, staff and faculty together to learn and grow with topics and skills related to EDIA. It was developed in consultation with diverse many faculty, staff, and student groups including the Office of Equity Transformation and a range of other student, staff, and faculty organizations and groups relating to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

    Transformation

    This EDIA program was designed to help empower UM staff, students, and faculty to transform UM campus processes, practices and climate, better coordinate education and training opportunities, and position UM as a leader for student and staff learning on this important topic. It aligns with UM’s Strategic Plan.

Program details

This program is for the UM Community including UM students, staff, and faculty. Offered in partnership with the Office of Equity Transformation and with the support of the UM President’s Office, it is part of the University of Manitoba’s efforts to improve equity and access across UM campuses, by educating and empowering UM staff, students, and faculty to contribute to individual and collective transformation. 

Credential: Micro-certificate in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA)

Fees: No cost to the learner

Expected duration: up to 18 months

Program objectives are to:

  • articulate areas of strength, transformation, and further learning relating to EDIA content and competencies
  • implement and advocate for action plans for change relating to EDIA from your particular social location and position at the University of Manitoba
  • critically reflect on your own knowledge, skills, and lived experiences and assess your own and others’ actions
  • better appreciate, understand, and empathize with perspectives and experiences different from your own so that you can articulate where your and others’ perspectives come from

Applicants must have completed the prerequisite course, EDIA: Foundations. Current UM students may also need to fill out a “Permission for concurrent curriculum form” with their faculty. Check with your faculty for more information.

If you have completed EDIA: Foundations, you will be invited to apply to the program.

You must be admitted to the program before you can register for courses.
