  • identify and discuss the key characteristics of various counselling approaches and theories
  • compare and contrast counselling theories through discussion, case illustration and application of theoretical approaches to counselling situations and populations
  • develop a continued self-awareness, identity and personal style in counselling
  • examine and articulate his or her own personal beliefs and values around the counselling process
  • use personal reflection and assessment to create a frame of reference in order to develop his or her own philosophy and personal style of counselling
