Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- explain the key ideas and developments that shaped contemporary AI, from formal reasoning to machine learning and generative AI
- distinguish among intelligence, reasoning, understanding, consciousness, and agency when assessing claims about AI
- explain conceptually how contemporary AI works, what it can do, and where its limitations remain
- examine AI within its broader philosophical, social, cultural, political, and technological contexts
- apply critical judgment to decisions about when, why, and how AI should be used, including what human capabilities to augment, delegate, or preserve
