Research Interests
I am a physical oceanographer focusing on the study of how sea ice influences physical and biological processes in the Arctic and subArctic seas. I use a combination of field observations, satellite remote sensing and modelling to investigate: (1) the temporal trends, spatial patterns and variability of sea ice covers; (2) the processes and feedbacks controlling air-ice-ocean interactions and seasonal evolution of sea ice; (3) how terrestrial runoff interacts with sea ice in coastal and shelf waters; and (4) sunlight propagation and interactions with materials (such as sediment, algae, CDOM) in estuarine, marine, and sea ice environments.
