Alessia Guzzi

My main research interest is coastal oceanography, specifically examining how different freshwater inputs (river discharge, sea ice melt) and coastal processes influence nutrient distributions in regions of Hudson Bay and James Bay. I have worked with multiple communities and community members around Hudson Bay and James Bay (including Naujaat, Chesterfield Inlet, and Sanikiluaq in Nunavut, and the Cree Nations of Chisasibi and Wemindji) for sampling campaigns and outreach initiatives. I am passionate about meaningful collaboration and community engagement, especially with youth. My current project is coordinating a knowledge synthesis of the James Bay region of Canada, which will provide a current state of the science of this region.
