Nathalie Piquemal is originally from France where she completed her Master’s degree in education and anthropology. She received her PhD from the University of Alberta in both Departments of Education and Anthropology. Her research focused on ethical protocols for research practices that are inclusive of Indigenous perspectives. Nathalie specializes in the field of intercultural and international education, with special attention to issues of racialization, social justice and equity. Specifically, Nathalie works with newcomers on integration, belonging and wellbeing. She uses phenomenological inquiry to better address issues of marginalized voices, particularly in her work with refugees and war-affected families. Nathalie has also worked internationally with NGOs on barriers to school participation.
