Education
Professionals in this occupation come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Most employers prefer to hire fundraisers who have related post-secondary education or extensive paid or volunteer experience, preferably in a not-for-profit organization. Training through one of the professional associations is an asset (alis).
The University of Manitoba does not offer specialized training in fundraising. Students may choose to pursue related post-secondary study. A minor or completing courses in business and recreation management may be of interest.
