Tyborowski is very well known across Canada for his music video Hora by Stepan Rak recorded by Bravo TV. Tyborowski has performed numerous recitals throughout Canada and in Europe. He can frequently be heard on national CBC radio in Canada, as well as various classical music stations in the USA. Famed Canadian composer Sid Robinovitch dedicated his concerto Ports of Call to Tyborowski and clarinetist Milan Milošević (the piece was premiered in May 2005 in Belgrade).
Tyborowski was president of the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society for many years. His first album, Romantico, has been praised by music critics in Canada and overseas. It was also singled out for its excellence on the CBC program Sound Advice. Tyborowski's second album, Homage a Chopin, has been described as a "magnificent recording.” His album Pearls and Yarn (April 2005) with the Milan Milošević Trio was awarded five stars out of five by the Winnipeg Free Press. His fourth CD, called Sefarad, with music composed by Sid Robinovitch, featured guitar with different chamber settings, and was nominated for a JUNO award. Richard’s fifth album was Memories. He is also featured on Richard Gilles’s Devotion.
In addition to his work with the University of Manitoba, Tyborowski also hosted Guitar Club at Margaret Park School in Winnipeg, teaching guitar to elementary school children. His work with the school during COVID-19 was praised by the Winnipeg Free Press.
Tyborowski is the author of Walking in Harmony, a comprehensive method book for guitar in schools.
He also works with younger generations as a music/guitar educator at the West St. Paul School where his gr. 3/4 kids’ Guitar Orchestra WON the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society David Bellan Trophy. Previously, every winner had been high school senior level.
