What we offer

Beyond education, we provide professional assessments to help health-care providers track and enhance their practice. Our goal is to support continuous learning and ensure providers stay at the forefront of patient care.

Clinical Assessment Program (CAP)

Our assessment and education programs help health professionals stay up-to-date, sharpen their skills, and expand their expertise. We deliver relevant, evidence-based content that supports ongoing learning and professional growth. Through workshops, online courses, and other formats, we make it easier for professionals to keep up with advancements and meet the changing needs of their practice.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - Medicine

We create and deliver high-quality CPD programs across Manitoba, mainly for medical professionals but open to all health professionals. Our programs—conferences, workshops, simulations, blended learning, and online courses—receive credit approval from the Royal College and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). We also plan CPD conferences and events for others at competitive rates and accredit programs on behalf of these institutions.

Fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education, we collaborate with groups like Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME) and are a key part of the Office of Continuing Competency and Assessment at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.

Life-saving education

Our Life-Saving courses are designed to provide individuals with the essential knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage emergency situations. Offering a systematic and concise approach to early patient care in critical conditions, these nationally recognized training programs set the standard for emergency management.

The courses focus on safe, reliable methods for immediate emergency care, teaching participants how to quickly and accurately assess patients and manage critical conditions. They also provide a solid foundation for handling emergency situations with confidence and competence.

  • Pre-requisites

Participants typically need to be healthcare professionals, including physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, or medical students. While prior experience in emergency care is advantageous, it is not always mandatory. Course prerequisites can vary depending on the specific program.

  • Current Courses Offered

    • Acute Care of At-Risk Newborns (ACoRN)
    • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Research

Research is a key priority of the CPD Medicine Program, aimed at strengthening CPD programming and contributing to the broader CPD community. We explore key questions in health professions education to drive meaningful change in clinical practice and improve patient care.

As part of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences' strategic plan, we apply best practices and develop innovative approaches to enhance educational programming. To support this, we share valuable resources with the CPD community.
