Dr. Verena Menec's research focuses primarily on older adults, with a particular emphasis on the social determinants of healthy aging, social inclusion, and age-friendly communities. Dr. Menec has published extensively in the field of aging and has served on many advisory committees, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Aging and the board of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG).
Dr. Menec has been the recipient of numerous research grants and awards, including a Canada Research Chair in Healthy Aging, and she was the director of the Centre on Aging at the University of Manitoba from 2004 to 2014. She is also the Manitoba lead researcher of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), the largest study on aging ever conducted in Canada. This groundbreaking study will follow approximately 50,000 men and women between the ages of 45 and 85 for at least 20 years, providing valuable insights into the factors that contribute to healthy aging.
One of Dr. Menec's key strengths is her community-based research approach, which involves partnering with community organizations to address the health and well-being of older adults. Her work has had a significant impact on the health and well-being of older adults, and she is a recognized leader in the field of aging research.

Dr. Verena Menec is a medical professional and professor in community health sciences at the University of Manitoba. Her research focuses primarily on older adults, with a particular interest in the social determinants of healthy aging, social inclusion, and age-friendly communities as a way to promote healthy aging.
