Pamela Orr works with academic and community partners to explore issues of concern to those communities. Her research interests include community wellness, health advocacy, health promotion and disease prevention, housing, nutrition, public health, STBBI, and tuberculosis. Her research themes include health determinants, health systems, infectious diseases, rural, circumpolar, and northern health. Dr. Orr is also a research affiliate at the Centre for Human Rights Research, Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba.

Pamela Orr is a professor of internal medicine (infectious diseases), medical microbiology, and community health sciences at the University of Manitoba. She started her career as a general practitioner and was recruited and mentored by Dr. J.A. Hildes to work in northern Manitoba and the Arctic. Her work is focused on community-based partnerships with northern, rural, and inner-city urban peoples to support health and wellness. She is currently the vice-president of the Circumpolar Health Research Network and associate editor of the International Journal of Circumpolar Health. She has served as president of the Canadian Society for Circumpolar Health, the International Union for Circumpolar Health, and the North American Region of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
