Biography

Dr. Kristjan Thompson is the current chief medical officer of St. Boniface Hospital and a former president/chair of Doctors Manitoba. He practices full-time as an emergency medicine physician at St. Boniface Hospital, is a member of the Winnipeg Jets medical staff, and previously worked part-time as a transport physician for STARS Air Ambulance. 

In addition to his seven years of board/executive experience at Doctors Manitoba, he completed a five-year term as business manager of SBH ED, served as vice-president of the St. Boniface MAC/Medical staff executive, and was also president of the Professional Association of Residents and Interns of Manitoba.

His professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, healthcare administration, health policy/system transformation, and professional advocacy.

He endeavours to advocate for all physicians as they navigate through many great challenges and the ever-evolving healthcare landscape, and joins his colleagues helping to lead change and shape the future of healthcare delivery in Manitoba.
