Teaching philosophy

Kristin enjoys working with students of all levels/programs to provide mentorship. She aims to create a welcoming environment for all learners to freely express themselves and ask questions. Kristin believes that students add value to her clinical practice and acknowledges that students have many things that they can also teach supervisors.

Biography

Kristin (she/her) is a clinical genetic counsellor who has experience in the areas of cancer genetics, metabolics, newborn screening, and general genetics. She has worked closely with the Genetic Counselling Program (GCP) at the University of Manitoba for a number of years by providing supervision to students and participating in teaching. More recently, Kristin has taken on the role of course coordinator for first year clinical genetics.

In addition to working with the GCP, Kristin has been involved in teaching for the physician assistant and medical students. She provides supervision to medical genetics residents and has experience mentoring undergraduate research students.
