Dr. Hensel is a general adult psychiatrist with interests in emergency, outpatient care, health systems solutions and innovative care delivery. Her experience includes work with administrative data, program design and implementation, use of innovative design and evaluation methods, quality improvement, and clinical trials.
Dr. Hensel is an associate professor at the University of Manitoba in the Department of Psychiatry. She joined the faculty in April 2017, from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
She obtained her medical degree in 2008 and completed residency training in psychiatry in 2013, both at the University of Toronto. During residency, she completed the Clinician Scientist Program and a master's degree in Health Services Research from the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.
After residency, she completed a one-year research fellowship in Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems. Before coming to Manitoba, she worked for three years in outpatient general psychiatry, and was the mental health lead for the Women's College Hospital Institute for Health Systems Solutions and Virtual Care.
