Cancer
Researcher, Research Institute of Oncology and Hematology (RIOH) at CancerCare Manitoba
Dr. Turner’s research interests revolve around the use of population-based cancer data as a means of informing cancer control activities. She works in various aspects of cancer control research, from prevention/etiology to early detection to diagnosis/treatment to outcomes, using the population-based data resources of the provincial health department and the cancer agency in Manitoba. As an epidemiologist, she has conducted cancer epidemiology projects based on the provincial cancer registry and linked administrative databases. Her primary research focus involves population-based health services research in cancer.
Dr. Donna Turner is an associate professor in community health science at Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.
After coming to Manitoba for a post-doctoral fellowship with the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, she joined CancerCare Manitoba as an epidemiologist in 1999.
She has been the provincial director of the population oncology portfolio at CancerCare Manitoba since 2007. Her portfolio is comprised of several programs:
