Leadership
Dr. Piotrowski’s current research focuses on the development of an online resource for Canadian psychologists that highlights evidence-based assessments and practice resources. This endeavour is a collaboration with psychologists and graduate students across Canada.
Dr. Andrea Piotrowski is an assistant professor in clinical health psychology at the University of Manitoba, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s regional medical specialty lead, clinical health psychology, and the lead for the adult assessment team.
She is a clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive and psychodiagnostic assessments for in- and outpatient services, in addition to working with MDCare and Student Mental Health Services on the Bannatyne Campus. In addition to her assessment and treatment work, she supervises psychology residents and early career psychologists and teaches medical students.
Dr. Piotrowski has served in a numerous leadership roles locally, provincially, and nationally.
She was chair of the Council of Professional Associations of Psychologists and the Practice Directorate of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), as well as a board member of CPA (2011–2018).
She has also been on the board of the Manitoba Psychological Society as student director (2003–2005), Communications Director (2008–2010), President (2010–2012; 2014–2018) and Director-at-Large (2019-2021). Currently, she is the co-lead of the Mentorship Program.
Dr. Piotrowski was part of the 2019 class of the American Psychological Association (APA) Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology. She published a book, Translating Training into Leadership: The Reasons Psychologists Make Effective Leaders, (Momentum Press, 2018).
