Research summary

Dr. Altman's research interests include perioperative care, hormonal therapy, ovarian cancer and vulvar cancer. His pursuits are to continue providing quality evidence based treatment of cancer in Manitoba while building a research program to improve outcomes and survival.

Biography

Dr. Altman is the past-president for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada (GOC), the program director for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, lead of business unit 2 for the Clinical Trials Unit at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) and current treasurer for Doctors Manitoba.  

He has served on multiple committees and executives including University Medical Group (UMG), the Canadian Obstetrics and Gynecology Review Program (COGRP), FIGO scientific planning committee, the CCMB Medical Managment Safety Committee (MMSC) and the University medical school admissions committee.  

He has also been actively involved in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and is a member and coauthor on multiple ERAS guidelines, ensuring that Manitoba and Winnipeg helps lead ERAS within the global medical community.
