Research summary

Dr. Alok Pathak’s research focuses on head and neck cancers, particularly those of the thyroid and oral cavity. His interests span clinical outcomes and translational research, with significant contributions such as a prognostic nomogram paper. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts, authored 10 book chapters, and edited two volumes of "Head and Neck Cancer Clinics." Dr. Pathak holds two US patents and has secured over $2 million in research and infrastructure grants.

Biography

Brief bio

Dr. Alok Pathak is a professor of surgery at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, and an affiliate scientist at the Research Institute of Hematology and Oncology, CancerCare Manitoba. He earned his MBBS (1991) and MS (1994) from Banaras Hindu University, India, and holds a PhD in human anatomy and cell sciences from the University of Manitoba. Dr. Pathak also completed a fellowship in adult craniomaxillofacial surgery at the University of Toronto and has trained in surgical oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, India, and head and neck oncology research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, USA.
