In 2010, he became a clinical fellow in clinical pharmacology at SickKids Hospital (University of Toronto) under the supervision of Dr. Shinya Ito, training as a pediatric clinical pharmacologist and conducting studies looking at the effects of genetics on drug metabolism.

In September 2012, Dr. 't Jong started his current job at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. He runs several research projects about pediatric pharmacology, and epidemiology, and was the director of the clinical research unit until late 2019.
