I am a proud black Canadian-born physician. I have lived and practiced medicine in Winnipeg for over 20 years.

I love physical activity. I love to listen to music in my spare time. I have a strong belief in maintaining a work-life balance.

supporting learners Mentorship style

My mentorship style is to provide guidance, feedback and encouragement. The goal is to support my mentees in addressing specific issues and attaining their goals. 

Understanding the learner, their unique strengths and past experiences is crucial. This knowledge will guide the mentorship relationship to address learners' needs effectively. This is a collaborative process where the learner's input is highly valued.

Biography

The following are highlights of my professional career:

  • Extensive training and experience in public health.
  • Clinical practice in family medicine.
  • Strategic leadership experience in public health practice at the national, provincial and regional levels of government.
  • Program direction and Leadership in the following areas: communicable disease control, Immunization, emergency planning and  pandemic response.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary teams on program design, planning, implementation and evaluation at the national, provincial and regional levels of government.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Medical consultant for pandemic planning with BOMA Canada, Member of the advisory council on the Canada national COVID 19 app, and board member of POST Promise, a non-profit organization created to assist Canadians to safely return to work in confidence during the COVID 19 pandemic.
  • Experience in public communication using different media channels.
  • Involvement in Undergraduate and post-graduate teaching.
