Frequently asked questions

Our tryout time conflicts with another clubs, are we expected to attend both sessions?

Athletes are encouraged to prioritize their preferred club for the first session. Attendance at both tryout sessions contributes toward a thorough evaluation but is not required.

My athlete has a late birthday (Sept. 1 – Dec. 31) and is eligible for multiple age classes. Do we need to attend both age class tryouts they are eligible for?

We track and evaluate athletes who qualify for multiple age classes; therefore, it is not necessary to attend tryouts for multiple age classes. Athletes are encouraged to register for their age class preference.

Where do teams practice?

All teams practice primarily on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry campus in the Investors Group Athletic Centre.

Teams may have some off-site practices in the surrounding community.

All Strength and Conditioning sessions are held at the Fort Garry campus in our High Performance Training Centre at the Active Living Centre and coordinated to complement practice schedules.

How does team travel work?

Beginning at 14U, out-of-province travel logistics are planned to be independent of guardians.

These experiences contribute toward high performance habits while fostering independence.

Does my athlete have to fly with the team?

Families are presented with group flight options and are permitted to opt-out and make alternate travel plans, allowing as much flexibility as possible.

How do fees work?

Fees are broken into three areas: player fee, apparel fee and travel fess.

Player and apparel fees are fixed costs and travel is specific to each team's experience.

All fees are calculated by the number of athletes on the team. A comprehensive breakdown is available under "Fee structure" above.

Do you offer fundraising opportunities?

We recognize the financial challenges of high performance sports participation.

In response, we offer a faculty subsidy program, a gift card fundraiser, and a corporate team sponsorship program.

Is there an option for a payment plan?

Yes, we offer a five (5) month payment plan option and split the travel fee into two (2) separate payments to alleviate some of the pressure of an upfront payment.
