Senate Motions (2010 to 2019)

The following motions were approved by the Senate at its meeting on December 1, 2010.

THAT Senate approve the four items in the Concurrence Without Debate category.

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Planning and Priorities Committee [dated October 25, 2010] regarding Site Approvals related to Stadium Development and the Sport and Active Living Precinct.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Admissions regarding the Respiratory Therapy Program.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation  regarding the Time Limit in the Preliminary Engineering Program.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation regarding the Dean's Honour List, Faculty of Pharmacy.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation  regarding the Dean's Honour List and Degree with Distinction, B.A. Integrated Studies Program.

THAT Senate approve and recommend the Board of Governors approve the Establishment of a Professorship in Neurobiology Research.

THAT Senate approve the recommendation that the Manitoba Centre for Hellenic Civilization cease operations as a Research Centre effective immediately.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on the Calendar recommending an online only version of the calendar commencing the 2011-2012 academic session; and that the web Calendar remain concrete from July 1 – March 31 every year as the 'official version' and remain flexible for the period April 1 – June 30 as 'subject to change without notice'.

THAT Senate approve the course changes from the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of the Environment, Earth and Resources as recommended by the Senate Committee on Curriculum and Course Changes  and the Senate Planning and Priorities.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation regarding amendments to the Academic Regulations of the Université de Saint-Boniface including revisions to the:

• passing grade for courses in the baccalauréat en education, effective September 1, 2012; and to the
• academic assessment regulations of the faculté des arts and the faculté des sciences concerning academic suspension, effective September 1, 2013; and to the

THAT Senate approve and recommend that the Board of Governors approve a proposal from the Faculty of Arts regarding the introduction of a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Criminology.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning the deletion of the statement of interest in teaching from the admission requirements for the Faculty of Education, effective for the 2013-2014 intake.

THAT Senate approve the Report of the Faculty Council of Graduate Studies on Program and Curriculum Changes regarding the Department of Canadian Studies, Université de Saint-Boniface, and the Faculty of Nursing [October 31, 2012].

BE IT RESOLVED THAT February 1st, 2012 be recognized as a day of student action toward quality and accessible education and that all academic staff shall be made aware of this fact and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT students are expected to fulfill all their academic responsibilities regardless of their participation on February 1st, 2012 and that students and instructors be encouraged to make reasonable accommodations for any conflicts in advance of the day.
