Research description

Dr. Alkomy is the director of the Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory (RIM Lab). His research lies at the intersection of robotics, autonomous systems, and advanced manufacturing, with expertise in dynamics, automation, control, motion planning, and machine learning. His research aims to advance autonomous manufacturing systems by improving efficiency, enhancing precision, fostering sustainable manufacturing through the development of energy-efficient robotic solutions, and expanding manufacturing capabilities through the integration of AI and machine learning. Dr. Alkomy's research program is supported by funding from federal and provincial agencies and strengthened through national and international collaborations.

Biography

Dr. Hassan Alkomy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba. Prior to that, he worked as as Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. He earned his PhD from York University, and completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees at Alexandria University. He currently serves as Technical Editor of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering Bulletin (CSME Bulletin) and as Treasurer of IEEE New Brunswick.
